the walk tonight had a lot to see

it's been a while since I've seen a 60s Continental on the street

it's a 4 door Galaxie... why? Why the hell not get a 2 door?

it's rare to see a Mopar wagon, especially from the past 25 years

I'm not sure what's under the hood, I don't think I even have a good guess... but the door handles prove it's a cool 2 door from the right era, and that's good enough

the dual qual 427 lightweight '63.5 Galaxie

A mid-year addition to the full-size Ford lineup.

Along with the new profile, Ford offered a lightweight package intended for racing that featured a stripped interior and a host of custom-built body and trim panels.

The hood, fenders, decklid, and fender liners were molded in fiberglass.

The bumpers and bumper mounting brackets were aluminum rather than steel.

The case for the T10 four-speed transmission and its bellhousing were also aluminum, and it used a lighter chassis than run-of-the-mill Galaxies. The diet shed several hundred pounds from the car, making the dual-quad 427 V-8 even more impressive.

someone stole a guy's Make-A-Wish restored Galaxie that had been his dad's... but a good neighbor spotted it, and the cops got it back to him pronto!

“My dad bought this car in '91 we drove it as a family car for vacations and road trips," he said. "I couldn't wait till I was old enough. I'm like, 'Dad, I want the car,'" said Josh

Over the years, it's been featured in his wedding photos, the background of shots of his kids growing up and many, many memories.

. "I was, like, 15 years old."

Then around 15 years old Josh began struggling with cystic fibrosis. It's a life-threatening disease," he said. “Your parents both got to be carriers. Both my parents were, I think it's one in three chance kid gets it. My parents had three kids. I was the third and I got it.”

"Make-A-Wish approached me and restored the car. Made my dream come true," he said.

Hundreds of miles later he heard the tire pop, he swerved to the side of the highway, called a ride, and left to get tools to fix it.

And someone came along and stole it.

It was an unbelievable moment for Josh, and even for the County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth, but just two weeks later! “One of our deputies received a tip to a specific address, o
ne county away, covered with a tarp, Josh’s car was in a driveway — one tire still flat" said Scott.

“A matter of two hours later, the car was back in my driveway," said Josh. "From a dream to a nightmare to a dream."

“Too often, we deal with tragedies in this profession, but it's these victories that keep us going day and night," said Scott. “I'm going to guess the owner's taking it for a cruise to celebrate its return.”

I'm getting a kick out of watching the 1960s and 70s Disney movies, and the cool cars in the scene backgrounds. Here's the nice 65s in the garage of The Ugly Dachshunds

I can't figure out the license plates though, they only appear legible in a couple scenes, and they are NOT the California plates you'd expect from a Disney motion picture.
They appear to be flat, not pressed aluminum. with raised letters, and in one scene, they clearly have a smoked plexiglass cover, obscuring the small print on the top, above the numbers.
The station wagon has a much more smoked cover than the Mustang, which never gets used in the movie
I also get a kick out of seeing celebs in movies early in their careers before they were well known. Mako is in this movie, as the catering assistant. You're probably more familiar with his role as the wizard in Conan, or the voice of Splinter in TMNT, or something else from the 163 other roles he had... he was in every tv series in the 70s and 80s. I kid you not. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0538683/?ref_=tt_cl_t_7

Seen on tonight's walk

crazy to find that in just the past 3 days I've come across 4 of these Galaxies

4 door with the handles shaved off

might be a Manx, I think the only badging is between the headlights

odd to let the van fall apart in the driveway. If neglect and abandoning are the plan, why not roll it onto the street and park it by the curb?

they had to cut through the shrubs between the sidewalk and the street, and the barrier wall of rail road ties, just to get the Bobcat up into the yard to get it into the backyard to do some work

KVNLGCY is the license plate. I bet there's a story of someone dying young with this tbird

stalker cat was extra stalkery today
