Minneapolis-Moline had created vehicles for the army with their 4 wheel-drive prime movers/artillery tractors entering army testing years before the arrival of the flat fendered 4x4 designed by Bantam.

The M-M products were noted by army soldiers in testing to be able to go anywhere and seemingly clear any brush or obstacle

one of a kind prototype 1956 crawler tractor, basically a production 445 tractor that had the rear end housing removed and replaced with a prototype back end that had final drives in place of the axle tubes.

WOW! THANKS Joe! Joe told me about the new apartment building on the site of the original Minneapolis Moline tractor factory, and that the decorator used a lot of the tractor stuff, even a few tractors in the foyer!

The Moline has the distinction of perhaps being the only apartment building in the Twin Cities with a veritable tractor museum. Chief Operating Officer Anne Behrendt said Doran is a big fan of incorporating public art and history into projects, and The Moline sits across from where the Minneapolis-Moline Power Equipment Co. operated until 1963. The first-floor lobby displays several tractors in a 2,200-square-foot space. 

“We saw the Moline tractors as pieces of art,” she said. “We wanted to showcase some of the history of Hopkins.”
