The Freedom House Ambulance Service trained America's first emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, starting in 1967

Just a bit about it, but not the key scene I want to share, so I'll fill you in on the rest

Season 1, episode 8 of The Pitt, brings up the history of this seminal organization, that turned out the 1st medics in the USA, gave 300 hours of trainings, starting IVs, defibralators, Intubated in the field, that program started the 911 system.

Designed with Dr. Peter Safar (the "Father of CPR"), the 32-week program required 300 hours of instruction in anatomy, physiology, CPR, nursing, and defensive driving.

They were the first in the U.S. to perform advanced life support (ALS) in the field, including out-of-hospital endotracheal intubation, cardiac defibrillation, and IV treatments

The service operated for eight years, answering over 45,000 calls and establishing the national blueprint for modern EMS standards before it was closed in 1975
