  1. Is there anything the Kiwis cannot do! They have one of the great aero histories on this planet.Maybe that accounts for their more than formidable record of restoring warbirds along with the civil planes that helped shape their modern country. I've been to the Warbirds over Wanaka twice, flew in a PBY Cat,twice with a touch and go on Lake Wanaka! What a thrill! Visited the Old aircraft factory(that may be wrong name) down south;saw a Beech staggerwing almost ready to go and the highlight....a replica DeHavilland Comet? Started by a Canadian I was told after correctly identifying the mainplane stood against a wall.Every thing, done by hand to original meticulous standards.Go the Kiwis..and I'm an Aussie.

    1. plus, they are building rally cars! I posted on that about a decade ago. It's very cool to see respect and admiration from any one group to another where there has been a traditional rift, thanks!

  2. That B-17 used to live not far from me @ Willow Run with the Yankee Air Museum......I flew in it about 20 yrs ago. It was already a very nice plane. Should be stunning when finished. Hope the new owner takes it on a few public outings.

    1. can you imagine owning your own B17? I'd wear out fuel pumps keeping it flying!

    2. But, I recall that it takes two people to fly it correctly, so, I'd instead prefer (in my hypothetical lotto ticket winning wealthy dream) to have a WW2 bomber that can be comfortably handled with just a single pilot, like an B 26, B 25, etc
