REM, a handheld "power stick" that works completely independent of the user's skateboard, might be a good alternative to electric skateboards
Power is provided by a 44.4V lithium battery which is claimed to be good for a range of about 12 miles per charge.
Of course, if the battery runs out, the skateboard can still be used on its own. In fact, one of the big selling points of REM is the fact that it leaves the user's board light, sleek and unaltered, instead of being weighed down and cluttered with a motor and battery.

Kurt Cobain owned a hand-painted skateboard that pays homage to Iron Maiden, that Tony Hawk now owns, and is going to do something newsworthy with, next Monday to raise awareness for emotional health, and to help provide resources for those who are struggling mentally.
Kurt Cobain was an avid painter, and one of his most notable works was a hand-painted Jeff Phillips model skateboard that pays homage to Iron Maiden. Sadly, Phillips, who was a skateboarder, died by suicide in 1993 just three months before the Nirvana frontman took his own life. Since Cobain's death, the board has been passed on to different owners, with the most recent being Tony Hawk. The legendary skateboarder bought the piece of art at auction last year and has some special plans for it. He teased that he'll be using it to raise awareness for emotional health, and is going to share more details on Monday (February 20), which would've been Cobain's 56th birthday.
"I bought this skateboard at an auction last year. It is an original Jeff Phillips model, hand painted by Kurt Cobain in 1985. Two icons that had immense influence on their respective fields, both of whom passed away tragically and much too young. I even tracked down the original owner to understand its provenance," Hawk wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the skateboard. "With the incomparable help of @dupedupe, we are hoping to make something good of this acquisition by raising awareness for emotional health, and to help provide resources for those who are struggling mentally. More to come on February 20 (Kurt’s birthday)."Friday, November 26, 2021

I was just watching a movie preview yesterday about skateboards being given to kids in some village in India, or there abouts, and one of the actors mentioned that NO ONE likes kids with skateboards... and in todays news? A kid with a skateboard in Dallas caused an active shooter police response, because the kid, was acting like a damn fool,
some guy went mental, and BANGED the skateboard as loud as possible, many people thought that this was a gun being shot, the mall was evac'd and the police were called.
It was just noise, so loud and abrupt, that it was mistaken for gunfire.
Damn. Skaters just can't get away from the damage caused by others with issues.

this is an evolutionary leap in skateboards... and skateboard tricks.
the first 40 seconds you'll see are wow, then whatever until the 2:50 mark when he put 4 ice skate blades under his deck...
That's mental. I haven't ever seen or heard of that before. Sure, I haven't any idea, and some of you know who did it first, etc etc. I don't care who invented it, or when, this is wow.... and save yourself the trouble of citing the history of blades under skateboards. I'm just pointing out something as it's the first time I'm aware of it.

interesting design of a skateboard used on down hill rail road tracks in 1935 for getting a long way downhill the easy way, just riding the board
via https://tywkiwdbi.blogspot.com/2020/06/divertimento-181-gifs.html
I've seen the end of this several times and it made no impression on me... but seeing the design of the skateboard.. that impresses me.
One wheel, one guide, and one balance bar
