In an effort to help an overwhelmed cat shelter last year, the Muncie Police Department asked violators to pay their parking tickets in cat food. It worked.

The request came after a couple of officers toured the Muncie Animal Care and Services Shelter, and found that it was running short on supplies to care for over 350 cats and kittens.  The number of people that do not pay the 75 dollars to get their cat fixed, and suddenly have a litter of kittens, annually, then drop off the kittens at the local underfunded shelter, is abominable.

"If you have a $25 parking ticket, you can bring up to $25 worth of cat food or litter to the Clerk's Office, and you can get your parking ticket to go away with the exchange of the donation,"

(yes I have adopted cats, sequentially, and my 2nd cat is now 11 years old. When you can adopt only one at a time, you'll only ever be able to save a couple in your life.

If you ever consider adopting cats, get 2, if you can. This relieves you of a LOT of entertaining your cat, believe me. Just last fall my best friend adopted 2 kittens, both the runts of their litters and left behind by the people that had chosen the others of their litters, and they are constantly keeping each other entertained, and I can tell you that just having one cat? Makes me the sole source of entertainment... and that is something I do not recommend. SO get two. If you're going to adopt cats that is. )

What's this got to do with cars? Well, parking tickets, and of course - MUNCIE.... you know, the transmissions in 60s Chevies.

Plus, with the unlimited amount of corrupt cops and effed up news about all the shit that cops do, when I can ever find a good news story about cops, I post it. Yes, they are exceedingly rare. But those that earn it, deserve the good press.

  1. That is brilliant. Muncie PD did something good. Maybe others should follow suit.
