Perhaps their choices were limited, but if the amount of snow on the roofs in the background indicates total snow fall they picked a poor place to park. In an effort to cut them some slack maybe they weren't familiar with the area and its normal drift patterns- or the storm came at them from a different direction. At any rate I hope they watched their pace- that's a heart attack job.
