It took 30 years and a lot of talking to get the owner to finally let this numbers matching 1970 Charger 500 383 4 Speed pass on to the next caretaker. This was it's 1st day in the sun since 1982

  1. Remarkable condition after sitting for 30 years. Generally everything but a corvette rust out even in warmer climates.

  3. WHY WHY WHY!?! Why can't I find one for myself again? Oh, that's right. I live in the North East, and I don't have a bottomless pit full of money. Now I get it.

    1. That is a factor, I agree. However, there is another part of the total sum of the issue... just how much time do you want to waste searching online for one.
I know there is a limit to how much effort it's worth, but, there is a result if enough time is wasted to accomplish a goal.
But is it worth spending years, and years using the internet to try, before getting an unknown result?
      That is the problem.
I might be proven wrong after years and years of emailing and scanning through posted cars for sale, to find that one perfect car that has been stored for 40 or 50 years, with medium amount of mileage, or used very sparingly by some old guy who takes it out a couple times a year at most (I am one of those, because I can't afford the gas) and it simply sits in the garage and eventually the old guy dies and his estate sells the car to someone they hope will love the car and take care of it.
And that happens every year, especially now as the original owners are dying off at a fast rate, and if you get to talking to as many car guys as possible, and asking the tough questions, "do you know any cool car stuck in a garage after the old owner died? I want to bring that car back to life and drive it until I die, then that car will get another chance to have it all happen again" aka I will NOT flip it for profit to some scumbag who only drives up the prices of great old car and has no love for them

    2. The more car guys you talk to, the more you learn of someone on their deathbed that wants their hot rod or muscle car to go to a good car guy that will truly enjoy the car, and keep it running, or racing, just used for fun.
Especially in the North East where rich people collect cars, and only rarely bring them out for a car show or parade.
If you talk to people in car clubs, parade organizers, etc etc
it might result in the best possible outcome.

    3. or, just tell me what you want and what you can afford, and we'll collaborate in a post to get the word out what you are looking for!
      Who knows, it might work!

    4. Jesse, you are a true gentleman. I will keep in mind what you said here about talking with car guys and at the cruises and so forth. Maybe someone is out there who is looking for a true car nut who will enjoy owning and taking care of it. And not flip for inflated profit. While there is no law against these people who do this, I personally do find them most loathsome. As for collaborating? I will keep that avenue open too. Thank you.

    5. Nay nay moosebreath! I am a scoundrel and a racontuer, a ballerina whisperer, a yooper, a gandydancer, a submariner, a skipjack tracer, a rootbeer connoisseur, a fixer of copier jams, a roller coaster tester, and Stig's American cousin. I'l not have you besmirch my reputation with that gentlemen nonsense. I insist you stop that right now.
But like I said, write up what you're looking for and all that, and I'll post it.
That's what I do. Well, and whisper up ballerinas, of course.
