interesting radio display in the dealership loaner I've got for the time that my commuter is getting the engine torn apart...

 it has a couple new tech things it does, like warn the driver the car in front is pulling away when stopped at the stop light, warn when the driver allows the car to go over the lane side painted white line, and damn it, it tries to help steer to stay in the lane through curves. I don't like that

But I do like this Nixie Tube radio display of what station it's playing

    Does that mean you're finally getting some action on the warranty claim? I would hope so!

      I was holding off until after the egg hatched, but, it's been decided by corporate that my engine is a dud, and will be replaced. So, nothing has happened yet, so I haven't posted about it yet... but, it's in the dealership storage lot to wait for either a lot of parts to get collected to build a new one, or a new one to be delivered to San Diego. I'm guessing that isn't going to happen, and they'll just get the list of parts together and rebuild mine

    Did I miss something (been out of country for a while)? You're actually getting someone to admit your Hyundai burns oil?

    Thankfully, my bottom line little Accent has been ridiculously reliable and doesn't burn a drop. It will probably fail all at once one of these days, but it's been so cheap it will hardly matter. But your experience has been discouraging.

    Off topic, I was in Egypt, and around Aswan are an absolutely phenomenal number of old Peugeot 504's. Not that many later ones, but it seems that if you can get parts and the roads aren't salted, (the two great downfalls of Peugeot in the US) they last forever.

      I was holding off until after the egg hatched, but, it's been decided by corporate that my engine is a dud, and will be replaced. It's my diagnosis that the Turbo is the problem, BUT I"M NOT TELLING THEM!
      This way I get a fresh new engine, or a fresh rebuild, and my smog checks and everything else like the timing belt, tensioner bearings, etc will be new!
      THEN we'll see if they fixed or replaced the Turbo, and if the oil problem is still there, then I'll make them replace the turbo, and VOILA! New everything under the hood!
      What in the world were you doing in Egypt, and did you see some pyramids, antiques and museums?

    You should be able to turn off the nannies like the lane warning and self-steering. They are probably buried somewhere in the menus on the touch screen.

    Yeah,I feel for you man! Down here we maybe have stronger consumer laws. I recall(can't remember manufacturer) where similar problems arose,but finally Law compelled the dealer to replace the whole vehicle! I also remember another more than unhappy customer, sadly and un-characteristically it was Toyota,that eventually took his vehicle to the dealers and set fire to it,or some such! I'll check up on that and get back. As I say these days,Once they have your $$$$$$,they don't give a crap!

    Yes, in Egypt and Jordan for sightseeing and the like (Lindblad tour, not cheap but well engineered). The pyramids are more awesome in person than you'd think, and the tombs in the valley of the kings, etc. as well. Sailed down the Nile on a luxo cruise boat as far as Aswan, and thence to Jordan for a few days, where quite literally, among other things, I stood on the mountain and saw the promised land! No matter how many pictures you see or books on Tut's treasure, etc., which are impressive enough, the real thing is more so.
