on the side of US 70, is a Texaco station that was bought in pieces about 10 years ago, and assembled in the backyard, as complete and accurate as any that are still around... and the family uses it to gas up their cars. Near West Memphis, Arkansas

  1. That last photo of the exterior restroom doors reminds me that every once in a while when driving in the hinterlands I come across an old gas station with these skinny, obviously not ADA compliant doors that open into a niche of a bathroom with enameled walls, a chromed-metal framed mirror, and if lucky, shiny chromed faucets (dual) mounted to a miniature sink, just like the first service stations I worked.

  2. Vern Walker of Walker Radiator Company in Memphis (no longer in business) bought this gas station and had it disassembled and moved to the location it now stands. Walker was also an owner of the National Street Rod Association before his death.
