how to make easy money in New York without working... the city pays $87.50 per reported truck that sits idling for more than 3 minutes... yes, the cops are not out enforcing the laws, now, NYC is ready to supplement the income of anyone with a cell phone

because of an online citizen reporting program the NYC Department of Environmental Protection launched in 2019 called the Citizens Air Complaint Program allows ordinary New Yorkers to receive a monetary reward for their “enforcement efforts.”

So just video record trucks that are parked for longer than three minutes with their engines still running, an offense in New York City, and get paid

To participate in the program, citizen reporters need to shoot a video showing a commercial vehicle idling for more than three minutes. They then log on to the city’s Idling Complaint System to file and track their complaint. According to the DEP, the fine for a first-time offender is $350, and more for repeat offenders. A 25-percent cut — or $87.50 — is paid to the person who shot the video and filed the complaint.

An 81-year-old New Yorker named Paul Slapikas said he’s collected $64,000 so far “without even trying.” “There are idling trucks everywhere,” Slapikas said. “Currently, I’m waiting for 42 bounty requests, amounting to $7,300 to be paid.”

If I was able to make money in some situation like this, I'd first offer the trucker to NOT report him for 50 bucks. Win Win for everyone. The trucker doesn't get the $350 fine, and I get cash that ain't reportable to the IRS... see what I mean? Great way for seniors on social security to bump up the income.

It's a guess, but, I bet more cities will go in this direction, and reduce the number of cops on the payroll, and less need for liability insurance, and less payout for damages by police, and less spent on wrecked cop cars, etc.

I figure it like this, if cities pay anyone a good amount to send in photos of all the expired registration cars, parking meter expirations, and illegally parked cars? The city won't need to have parking enforcement, and will also get a LOT more for registrations renewed (if they are smart enough to work out something with the state)

Seriously, in a 1/2 hour I come across a half dozen or more expired registrations, every day, all week long.

  1. Start a business. Travel to New York a few days a month. Find all the vee-hickles you can. Write off the travel, the lodgings, your phone, your food.

  2. I like your thinking. The fact is that New York State loses 225,000 to 250,000 residents a year including new graduates from high school and higher education. Stupid laws, high property taxes, excessive amount of government employees that results in excessive amounts of retirement benefits and health benefits that is not sustainable.
