Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrested five suspects this week after they were caught with a half dozen catalytic converters stolen from cars parked in the economy lot at the Sacramento International Airport.

the airport spokesperson says the economy lot has four cameras where the thefts happened, but doesn't mention that the cameras didn't catch the thieves.

The airport also works with a parking contractor to watch for suspicious activity and an airport dispatch center is in direct contact with sheriff’s deputies, but those didn't catch the thieves.

The police simply don't even state the facts, that the security is useless, and that the police aren't going to make an effort to catch anyone stealing catalytic converters. If they get lucky and get led to the thieves? Then great. But they point out that it's not their problem, and blame the car makers for not making catalytic converters impossible to steal... right. Like the cars can't be stolen.

  1. It wouldn't surprise me if the parking lot security was paid off to avoid part of the lot at a certain time to allow the thieves access to cars.
