It's very interesting to me to see sales displays from companies that have a nice variety of products, on the back of trucks

at the top are Army tent poles, which were a contract job during WW2

This happens to be from a company in the yoop (Upper Peninsula of Michigan), that was in business for about 80 years. There haven't ever been many businesses in the yoop, they simply are rare as no one seems to have figured out how to use some local natural resources and make something that would sell worldwide, for less than the stuff made in other places around the world. Kingsford briquettes is the only thing I know of that succeeded.

1877 The Freeman Manufacturing Co is established in Kalkaska, Mi.
1911 The Munising Woodenware Co, successor to the Freeman Mfg Co is established and incorporated.
1916 The Munising Woodenware Co merges with the Munising Veneer Co. The new company is known as the Munising Woodenware Co.
1934 The Munising Woodenware Co merges with the Piqua Handle and Manufacturing Co of Marquette. It becomes known as the Piqua-Munising Wood Products Co, with main offices in Cleveland.
1940 Piqua-Munising Wood Products declares bankruptcy in (although production continues) and is purchased by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, which has been a majority owner of the Piqua-Munising operation. It now becomes known as Munising Wood Products. This includes the Munising and Marquette operations.
1941 The main offices move from Cleveland to Marquette in '45.
1945 The joint operation is purchased by the Dearborn Company and the main offices are moved to Chicago.
1955 Munising operations cease.
