the 70s would have been a lot crazier if more Gremlins had been this radical

  1. Well I think for my money this should have been the Hot Wheels winner. This gremlin is totally rad. Dig the '57-'58 Ford Fairlane dash and instrument gage set up. I love that. Boy does that bring back memories of my '57 I had when I was 19. Another one i should have never sold. :(

    1. I thought the dash was cool but wondered why, until I realized he'd sectioned away most of the very bland original dashboard.

  2. Really does look like a HotWheels car come to life.

  3. Pretty much a street version of the dirt modified body everybody was using in the 70'. Pretty cool looking

    1. Doggone it! How did I miss that? It's pretty damn obvious... and I missed it completely

    2. Dale your right, that was the other thing about this Gremlin I noticed. Hell all it needs to complete the image is a couple nerf bars coming off the frame and some thoughtfully fashioned nerf bumpers. ;) And Jesse, if you miss anything, it's very little at best. Really nice photography B-T-W.

    3. Thanks! The photography is only possible within the limitation of the crowded small booth, and to get a compliment on that is truly appreciated. The only way to get any photos at SEMA is to get wait for all the other people to move on their way, and hope for a moment with a clear view OR to wake up at 5am, AND get a press pass to be allowed on the floor at 6 am to 9 am. Until 8, it's just the security and the photographers, between 8 and 9 it's also the "exhibitors" who take that time to look around without having to man their booths
So, a couple photos with NO ONE in them, and the rest with a couple exhibitors in the background
It's the early morning wake ups, and blogging until 11 pm or so, that erase all feeling of being on vacation. It's also why I was so foggy brain tired that I deleted all the photos I took on wednesday, and had to retake them on thursday.
I think I only was unable to retake one, or a dragster with a cool red white and blue painting that shared the back tire (between the painting and the real car) for a cool look

    4. Dale, you win the internets for the day, totally forgot about the dirt modified.

  4. I'm impressed, the guy who built this is 24 years old and is going to use it as a daily driver! He removed 18 inches out of the rear section and 12 inches out of the front. This left him with enough extra sheet metal to extend the car’s hood. He also turned the original turn signals into headlights. I respect that he didn't go easy on himself and drop in a crate motor; instead he used a supercharged AMC 308.

    1. That's an impressive young man to do that. And using the AMC 308 is REAL old school hot rodding. I hope the guy has years of fun with it. And Jesse, I know exactly what you mean when you speak of your photo work and how you have to wait. I do the same out here with my picture taking. Patience, if nothing else, is what photography teaches us. Admittedly I even tell the unassuming gawker at the car show to "Get out of the way." But I make sure I smile and give them a wink to let them know I'm just teasing. Generally they comply too.
