a similar P1800 is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/stiffspeed/permalink/1572352139578063/ in fact it might be the same car https://oppositelock.kinja.com/naskar-the-story-of-the-1963-holman-moody-volvo-1800-1029894636
this was Holman and Moody prepped... and the name over the window says Bob Ford
You might not recall, and I'd forgotten, that Ford owned Volvo, as well as Jaguar, etc etc a couple decades ago.
it's a P1800, an old acquaintance of mine had several of these covered up outside in his yard 35 or so years ago. Sadly they're probably still there.
ReplyDeleteyes it is, I figure no one needs me to mention that, they are so apart from the norm... Volvo sure did a stand out job with the design on this one, and, well, the other couple of pre 1990 Volvos too, they didn't need a lot of models to sell, they just made one really good one at a time, and the sales came naturally.
DeleteThere was that old hot rod looking one, the 1800, and the boxy station wagon one. That's about as good as GM did with the Chevelle, Camaro, and Corvette, from a popularity perspective.
It's even more amazing when you consider they were a small company far from a car making center of industry and talent pool of employees
I sure does, thanks Jesse. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned the old station wagon model. There was a model (which I had to look up)a PV544 that my father picked up for me and my three older brothers that we used as a lot car. We owned 65 acres and we brutally covered every inch of it. As a young kid driving something with a stick shift was awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha
I just posted the models, and a link to the Volvo website, so people can see all the models of Volvos ever made https://www.volvocars.com/us/about/our-company/heritage/heritage-models
DeleteThat must have been a blast!
