yes, so many things were insprired by artists like the Partridge Family bus, paint theme by Mondrian. Did you notice the asbestos? Bottom of the ad. That's why I posted it
cement asbestos is still used for municipal water pipes, delivering water to millions of homes.
I know because a subcontractor we hired, damaged one when they were working near a highway. i watched the county water department come out and repair it.
asbestos is not a health problem as long as its not stirred up and inhaled. and can be disposed of easily, you double bag it, mark the bags with decals, and when you take it to the landfill, notify the operator, and they tell you where to place it in the landfill, and they dont drive the compactor over the bags of asbestos.
years ago, no one knew the dangers, and lots of auto mechanics were breathing the dust because brake shoes and clutches were made from asbestos.
Lead is similar, but different, as long as you dont eat it, its almost harmless.
Yes, a 3rd cousin of mine is dying from mesothelioma. True, it's quite simple to deal with, NOW. But, until around the 90s, maybe the late 80s, factory workers, mechanics, and generally speaking, most guys in construction weren't aware they were contracting asbestos cancer. Ditto lead poisoning from leaded gas. The affects, in my opinion, not as a scientist with studies, syposiums, NEJM published articles, etc, is that the leaded gas led to the health problems and reduced intellect of the Gen x, Gen y, and millenials. All the allergies, all the ADHD, and other learning disabilities, the asthma, the lower level of grades and graduates... compare any of these to the same number of high school grads in the 1910s. Before 70 years of leaded gas pollution. Greedy corporations, and their politicians in their money pockets, not having a bit of human decency, has ruined a once good country. Birth defects are up, cancer rates all around the anatomy - are up, and all this in the face of the most advanced medical universities and hospitals. You're more likely to die of cancer than anything else.
I just love these futurama looking designs of the fifties.

DeleteAs far as I know this is the same company. Still in business, and have been for a long time. I am not sure how long they have been in the US though.
