Looks crazy to me, and I think you've probably got the problem figured out, no front shocks, springs, etc. But how it going to maintain an ability to stay mechanically connected and steer?
the steering gearbox is attached in front of the axle so the dragline continues to function as it should. The leaf spring mounts at the rear are broken or missing and the shocks are MIA as well.
Not sure but it looks like a straight axle with leaf springs that are either broken or unattached at the rear?
