and 80 years from now, someone will dig them up, or spread rumors about them... 23 aircraft getting buried in Australia, as they have asbestos, and it's cheaper to put them in a landfill than to deal with the deadly material
We were initially told they were to be sent to Indonesia. The fleet, the spares and technical assistance with maintenance, the whole box and dice. What happened? I'm sure they had their reasons but what sort of brains trust thought this was a good idea? The Army here recently released a few Leopard as1 tanks for suitable locations and institutions. Part of the approved installation process involved welding it to a suitable plinth, filling it with concrete slurry, and permanently welding the lid shut.
