most of you won't recall that California had some idiotic idea that no cars with less than 50 mpg would be sold in the state... and then the deadline for such lunacy came around 5 or 10 years later, and no surprise, the magic vehicle didn't get made by Detroit, and California repealed that stupid nonsense. That was like 15 or 20m years ago... no, I don't want to waste time looking that up to get the accurate info. If you need it, you look it up. I've got better things to do
The point is, stupid goals that make the incumbant's party voters happy are what they pass into law, just before election year, in hopes of paying off a campaign promise years after getting elected, just in hopes of getting re-elected. Or that's the way it seems to me.
Democrats are a strange people, it's best to ignore their "weird" notions.
