Brown tool auctions has some pretty cool stuff, here are some vintage store displays that must have been in a hardware store about 75 years ago

and two tape measure collections I found intriguing... one is Stanley, the other is Lufkin. Great way to make a novel collection no one else will have. Lots of guys have a collection of spark plugs, tools, rare car parts...

  1. Wow! the top two pics do take me back. My dad was a chippie in his mid life after starting as a smithy at 14yrs in country Victoria. I have kept some of his tools, including the breast drill, hand drill and a brace(and bit). And a 6foot cross cut saw which sadly I have used.Later he merged into furniture manufacture which my older brother and I continued with. Sadly, like business in the US we have suffered the same selling off of the farm, and after 54yrs of operation I regrettably had to close it all down. Only other choice was to go belly up. Geez! what our so called Govts. do to the people/small and large Companies that once made our countries great!

  2. My father was a carpenter and had the same Millers Falls automatic screwdriver. I remember he used it all the time when doing hinges on doors. that's long before the pre-hung units everybody is using today. They were hand planed, chiseled and drilled to accommodate the hinges and locksets.
