Motorists villa on the shores of Lake Erie beginning in the 1920s and into the 1960s! Back in the roaring 20s when "motoring" to just get the hell away from home and see something over the horizon was the goal of everyone that could afford a model T

During the 1920s, William J. O’Neill purchased over twenty wine casks from a wine wholesaler in Ohio. The casks were made from solid oak. Windows and a door were made in each wine cask and the inside was equipped with electricity, stove and bathtub.

They were painted and had a porch attached becoming a place motorists could stop and spend the night. They became known as the Cask Villa.

  1. That is exactly what I need on my property here in the mountains. Would be great next to my proposed small shop.
