The Big Boys were all numbered in sequence, 4000 to 4024...25 total. The restored operating engine is UP 4014. I had the good fortune of seeing her in Milwaukee a number of years ago when she spent the night at the UP yard in Butler, Wisconsin. It was a sight to behold.
About three years ago I dragged my little brother to Boise when one of the big boys was doing a tour. I think it was 4014. They are just amazing, just sitting there idling , you could feel the power. If you had the right connections you were able to get a ride, We of course didn't. I could afford a T-Shirt but I can't find it right now. A swell weekend to connect with my brother again.
Looks like a locomotive graveyard to me..U.P. has a free website that tell when and where The Big Boys are and headed now-a-days.
