and a lot of dirty tricks were used to try and get that pizza for free because they couldn't deliver in less than 30 minutes, like ordering at the top of a tall building, and blocking the elevators.
Now you get to do all the damn ordering your self, and drive to the local Domino's, to try and get a free pizza when they can't get out to your car in less than 2 minutes.
I got 2 free pizzas last weekend this way. I shit you not.
What a fun job that was. North shore of Chicago area, 1984. Wealthy community, Army base and 3 colleges in our delivery area. I lived off tips and commission and banked the money from my other job. The delivery team was driving Camero's, Saab's, Volvo's and Audi's. I went out and bought myself a Chrysler Laser just so I could keep up with them.
I would love to hear stories about your experience! Did you ever read Buffalo Speedway? It's terrific, maybe the best pizza delivery story ever. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2015/07/buffalo-speedway-coolest-thing-i-bought.html
Growing up in New York City where everyone has their favorite pizza restaruant, Domino's has always eluded me. Then one day I ate some. I prefer cardboard. Sorry, not my piece of pie.
sure, I bet growing up among dozens or hundreds of local pizza places was enough to provide you a favorite or 5 depending on the mood you were in, but, everywhere I've lived, pizza was limited to only a couple places, at most, and most of them were chains... usually it's twice as good to get a local place, especially family owned and run. Now, it's 1/2 the price to get a Domino's, compared to my favorite, which are 24 bucks for a 14", $28 for a 17" I get a couple slices every couple weeks. 4 dollars a slice. When I advise people to try Domino's, it's because it's cheap, tasty, and fast. Plus, you can try and get a free one. BUT, I also point out that it's got to be double sauce, double cheese, with garlic, and pepperoni. Then whatever you like in addition. There is big difference between San Diego (as many Mexican places as New York has pizza places) and other cities... there simply aren't enough pizza lovers, and too many beer lovers (150 breweries)
