I live in Sioux City. They say to expect somewhere between 30,000 and 50,000 people for RAGBRAI in a town of around 100,000. To hell with that. I'm leaving town 'til Monday.
I had never heard of it until this morning. Next week, San Diego will double it's downtown everything, tourists, restaurants, boat tours, etc because about 350,000 people are coming for Comic Con. It's one of the things people avoid downtown during, as the traffic everywhere is incredibly worse. Great event though, I attend every year, walk a mile or two from the nearest free parking, and have a great time for 3 or 4 days in a row
