if you're right, and I did consider that the open door would make the spelling correct... then why focus on the spelling with the door open? The door will be closed probably 9/10ths of the time. Why not spell it correctly when the door is closed?
I think I've found the answer. There's supposed to be a long sticker on the van's body, and a short sticker on the door. They've put the correct sticker on the body, but on the door they've used the long sticker that's supposed to be on the body on the other side of the vehicle. It probably says "Scottish Amce Service" on the other side.
