Ya sorry about the double entry, I was trying to reply on my phone at work and I suck at using it but I didn't have time to even go into the room with my PC until now and I never want to miss a day of justacarguy.
Monza was longer, lower with more hood than the Vega. Though you couldn't see the grill on that pic, the Vega looked like the 70-71 Camaro - big grill, chrome bumpers. Monza looked like the later Gen2 Camaro with the plastic bumpers, smaller grill.
Underpinnings were Vega based, so it would be the same analogy of a Mustang being a Falcon. The platform opened up other GM variants. Buick had the Skyhawk with it's 231 V6. Oldsmobile had the Firenza with a variety of powerplants. Just a few points but I hope this helps.
The Monza might have had a cool optional V8 but it was such a b*tch to work on you had to disconnect one of the engine mounts to actually get spark plugs done on one side of the engine.
Monza was available with a V8.
ReplyDeleteummm, please, reply to what I wrote, when I'm asking a question. It's so much more relevant to the post!
DeleteI asked about looks, not powerplants

ReplyDeleteJust noticed that blue Monza has metal bumpers. Oops. Also the rear of the Monza is tapered where the Vega is a Kamm back.

ReplyDeleteMonza were cooler in that a V* engine was optional, and a 4 speed.
