A B-2 of the 11th Bomb Squadron at Mines Field, California, during the 1933 National Air Races, compared to a racer. Cool that they had the presence of mind to make this photo op happen
notice the exhaust indicating an inline 12 cylinder on the bomber.
Great photo, but only 13 of the bombers were built - that's even fewer than the B-2 Spirit. Engines are V-12s with two exhaust ports per cylinder: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_V-1570

ReplyDeleteI think it might be a Curtiss XB-2 bomber
ReplyDeleteIt's a Curtiss B-2 Condor.
ReplyDeleteYes, forgot to mention the Condor title.
DeleteNot am inline 12 but a V12 with four valves per cylinder and an exhaust outlet for each.
