In his memoirs, Chuck Yeager mentions a Ford A that has been through a string of owners, all test pilots who lost their lives. He instructs his wife to have the car junked, if he dies too.
I seem to remember a passage in 'The Right Stuff' by Tom Wolff about the base commander at Edwards inheriting a battered Model A from his predecessor as airfield transport.
