newsflash: Long Island New York's Suffolk County Police are trying to find whoever is responsible for setting up dangerous traps, apparently targeting people on dirt bikes and ATVs near Sag Harbor (Just North of the Hamptons)

Police say someone is tying camouflaged hunter green parachute cords from tree to tree in multiple locations across the nature trails in Sag Harbor. (lucky it isn't fishing line, insane people do that across trails too)

Police surmise the noise and worry of environmental destruction prompted someone to
up a booby trap to hurt somebody,” Southampton Police Det. Lt. James Kiernan said.

Police have received numerous complaints across the East End that teens are riding where they should not.

A juvenile ATV rider was seriously injured two weeks ago when a cord struck him in the neck, throwing him from his ATV and sending him to the hospital.

A hospital photo released by police shows severe bruising to the boy's neck, from his collarbone to his chin. “Someone just got really upset about us riding and decided to take matters into their own hands, to try to stop us,” James Edler said.

“So we’ve had to do more enforcement. We’ve impounded more than a dozen motorbikes and ATVs,” Kiernan said.

Edler’s mom and dad said it’s fair play for someone to report trail riders to the police or even follow them home to confront the parents, but it’s not okay to set a trap that could maim or even kill.

holy shit, those atvs are not phased by bull dozer driving over them... WOW that suspension stuff is tough!

So, this 2017 video shows that ATVs have been pissing off the locals for years.

I find it obvious rich parents buy these for their kids... teenagers don't make much money at minimum wage jobs, even used atvs cost money for fuel and tires, that might be somethings kids can afford, but I doubt hundreds of dollars for the bikes. That's parents paying for those

Also, other insane people on Long Island are shooting geese and seagulls with arrows, and hammering nails into turtles, so - there are some sick sociopath people on that island who are determined to maim animals and people
