geeze, I need to rent my shack, if they can get $155 a night for a camper. my shack is a few miles away from this camper, 16 x 20 with a sleeping loft.
Jesse, the offer still stands, get a cheap flight to Atlanta, I will meet you at the airport with my 77 Chevy pickup, 73 Bronco or 2004 Expedition, your choice, and the keys and a map to my shack, (its so far back in the woods, GPS cant find it and you get one bar of cell signal, if you stand in just the right spot)
I will take you up on the offer someday. That's my plan... hit the open road, take it slow and easy so I can make the distance, see the museums, car shows, airplane museums, train museums, Union Pacific old train stations, shipmates I served in the Navy with, and people like yourself that I've met through this blog. It seems to be a fitting goal before I'm old and decrepit, and unable to get around, that I make a big go of it and try to do those bucket list things. Even get over to Goodwood and see the Pebble Beach Concours, those would be on the list too. But mostly, get on the road and meet the people that I've been talking to for these years, if they want to. After all, it's got to be easier all the way around if I some see everyone, than if they all come to see me, right? Lol, assuming they would. JSFury, Kim, Steve, Gary, Capt Doug, Al, Dale, Greg, Shas, Sam Joe, Bill, Bobby J, Robert, and so many others But it will take time to get set for that road trip, or even a short week, or weekend. Heck, I'm working a job that only gives 10 days off a year. 5 of those are SEMA, and dang, I'd let a lot of people down if I didn't cover SEMA! LOL, and a couple days are for Comic Con. I haven't done anything else with days off in over a decade. I haven't had enough days off to do anything else, also, laughing about that. Well, I haven't had the money either. Ever heard how boats are a money pit? I't's true, and 15 years after going through a very bad and expensive learning experience, I'm still working through paying off the credit card I had to use to keep it floating and legal. It was a great place to live for 3 years, but I had no idea that instead of costing half of what an apartment did with a monthly payment, it would cost 40 thou to walk away from when the local port authority changed the anchorage rules. Those were still on the book from the gold rush era, and when the city decided to make money off more marinas, they took away the obsolete sailing ship anchorages that had been intended for quarantines. Those anchorages had become the local zero cost place to put a boat or yacht, and with a two year waiting list to get a place on a pier in a marina, it was where anyone in San Diego waited. Then they took it away, and yet, I still had years of payments to go, plus shipyard costs. Anyway, summed up, I'm still paying it off. Most people suggested I simply declare bankruptcy. But I chose to work and pay my bills.
So, working, paying, blogging for fun, and looking toward earning a bit more, finishing off car payments next March, etc. Then, hit the road, maybe working my way along, cause I sure ain't got no savings, lol.. but I got heart, time, and goals. And people still need their lawns mowed, etc etc.
I wouldn't want to go back home.
