On the topic of B-25s, did you see that the last survivor of Doolittle's Raid just passed away at 103? Lt. Col. Richard Cole was co-pilot on Doolittle's plane.
I did, but there was such an overwhelming amount of publicity, there was no point nor any reason for me to just repeat what everyone everywhere else was posting. Then you're just bandwaggoning, but when few or no websites have posted something, and I'm sure that my readers would never see the story, like the woman throwing pennies in the jet engine (!) that's when I think it's important to post those stories. If I'm just putting out the same headlines as everyone else, why would anyone bother reading my site? Hell, I won't read that stuff, like car reviews, magazine cover story stuff, and headlines... because it's on 24/7 blast on radio, internet, and tv. It's just annoying to not get unique news or unique stories. I wish more sites would run the lesser publicized stuff, where it's good news! Not another bombing, wildfire, or presidential debacle. That just brings me down. I want to be a "pump you up" site of cool and interesting stuff to stand out in the desert of dull news I'm also anti eulogy news. Why the hell won't mass media celebrate these people when they are alive and able to enjoy it? I told people to go interview Burt Reynolds and James Garner! They didn't listen, but the moment those guys were dead, everyone flooded the world with "a look back on the life of" instead of getting Garner to talk about the movies, tv shows, and guys he'd worked with like Bronson, McQueen, etc. Hell, McQueen said he tossed his beer cans over the bushes onto Garners drive way to piss him off and get a rise out of Garner... now, why the hell didn't people go get Garner on video telling that story from HIS point of view, and a look back at racing Baja in Olds and AMCs? That's some crazy shit! Woof, what a sidenote.. i belive i digressed a bit and got spun up. Anyway, like todays post about Dan Rankin, there are some awesome poeple out there (was a tank driver, in WW2, then was a trucker til age 89... effing 25 years after retirement age, and HE'S STILL AROUND to talk to! Shit... THAT is what I post, far more than " guess who just died" Those really hit me in the feels and bring me down
What a terrific shot.
