I'd never noticed the NASA plates on the front of most of the cars. One of the fun things about the shows from the 50's and 60's is you can usually tell what car company was the sponsor. Leave it to Beaver and the Andy Griffith show had new cars of all the same make for their characters. You also can tell when stock footage is being used, because the car pulling into the driveway will be a year older or a different model than the one that a character was driving in a previous scene. Makes for some interesting carspotting.
