In the late 60's my street rod was a 55 sedan delivery, with a .30 over 283, with Rochester fuel injection, a Muncie 4-speed, and 4.11 rear end. On street-racer nights at Carlsbad Raceway I did a pretty consistent 14 flat at 100mph. Not very fast by today's standards, but it was the third fastest car in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area. For a couple of years, a lot fun and a lot of work.
wow! That's a hell of a hot rod! My compliments! I haven't been to a drag strip that's a 1/4 mile in a long time, and ironically, now I actually have a car that would be respectable at the drags... I can't recall what the times were on my Super Bee when I drove it from San Diego to Maryland to see my sister, but I had a 2.73 peg leg, and 18 mpg, with a 383... and it must have been in the 15s at best. No performance parts on that engine at the time, strictly commuter. That was 1996 I think. I'm pretty sure my R/t would be in the 13s, low in them... but, who knows? There aren't any more 1/4 miles in the county. Hell, I might as well find a straight and long piece of no where and find out someday. Maybe even get the Chrondek working first! https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/03/chrondek-photo-electronic-timer-model-m.html
