Todays salute to Prince Phillip. Husband of Queen Elizabeth II, retiring at age 96.... about 30 years after most people retire. Respect.

Prince Philip has had 22,219 solo engagements, given 5,496 speeches, and written 14 books, and been president or member of 780 organizations. 4 million people have been part of the Duke of Edinburgh award ceremonies.

The above are 2 of 3 books he has written on competition carriage driving (I've never heard of that before), he also has written books on conservation, seabirds, culture and social idiosyncrasies,

These books on carriage driving tell how he began driving, and details his early, often catastrophic, experiences and his involvement in the organization of the sport of competition driving.
It's the story of the origins and development of competition carriage driving, with accounts and results of the events and championships in which he has taken part.
In the early years he was president of the FEI, the international governing body for show-jumping, dressage, three-day eventing, long-distance riding, vaulting and reining.

A native of Greece, Prince Philip courted the then-Princess Elizabeth during his time in the Royal Navy.

Their seven-decade marriage has seen Britain through postwar austerity, the creation of a welfare state, the loss of empire, entry into what became the European Union and, now, plans to exit it.

He's also admired with a great deal of humor, for his gaffes when meeting with people, such as:

▪ He asked a Scottish driving instructor in Oban, Scotland, in 1995 how he 'kept the natives off the booze' long enough to get a licence.
▪ In Cardiff he told children from the British Deaf Association, who were stood by a Caribbean steel band: 'If you're near that music it's no wonder you're deaf'.
▪ “I declare this thing open, whatever it is.” — On a visit to Canada in 1969
▪ “You look like you’re ready for bed!” — To the president of Nigeria, who was dressed in traditional robes
▪ “Ah, so this is feminist corner then.” — To a group of female Labour lawmakers at a party at Buckingham Palace in 2000

enjoy your retirement in good health with the love of family and friends good sir!
