the blown-Hemi-powered creation nicknamed Driverless T by brother builders Don and Hoody Mitchell, who received a Oct. ’58 Hot Rod Magazine feature


A deep belly pan put Don and the engine way down low, beneath the hinged cowl-hood panel. His windshield was a clear-plastic grille insert. This thing must’ve been safer than it looks, earning the Best Engineered trophy at a downtown Oklahoma City hot rod show staged in conjunction with NHRA’s fourth annual “Big Go.”
