Someone could make a legitimate argument that typical Maytag engines are not "hit and miss", and are simply a 2-stroke with a spark interruptor. Hit and miss engines are generally accepted to be 4-cycle with the governor acting on the exhaust valve to create the "miss".

DeleteOne could also argue a hit miss is hit on demand motor 4 stroke did it with valves and Maytag with spark...heard both sides of this argument
