The commander in chief of the Vietnamese military... gets paraded around in an odd vehicle, with white walls

Strange looking vehicle... why white walls?

the comment from Shas says it best " white paint on tires can be related to the "fancy" capitalistic tires with white circle in it. Because even in Communist wonderland they all like fancy cars with fancy tires."

  1. It's a Soviet UAZ-469, the successor of the GAZ-69 a.k.a "Jeepski".
As for the white walls, it's a relatively common dress paint scheme for military vehicles in the Warsaw Pact countries (and, apparently, their eastern "friends" too).

    1. Indeed the white paint on bumpers and edge of car body was a "symbol" of top brass cars in parades organized under communist ruled nations. What is interesting the white paint on tire can be related to the "fancy" capitalistic tires with white circle in it. Because even in Communist wonderland they all like fancy cars with fancy tires.
