I met Chip at the Boise Roadster Show after he signed about a thousand autographs and drew hundreds of pictures for fans. I introduced myself and he said, "I know who you are. Let's check out your stuff."
He stepped into our booth and security immediately closed off our booth to about a hundred people following him. He asked lots of art questions and was genuinely interested. I asked for a picture and he said "Sure." I said, "With Mrs BOMONSTER?" He said "Sure." We exchanged numbers, shook hands and he left with one of my tees.
The crowd followed and the booth was empty again. Then my tee made an appearance on a couple of his shows this month. He's a nice guy with lots of talent, good taste

Bomonster is selling his (was also his dad's, and his grand dads) 64 Continental (when a buddy is selling, I'll help by spreading the word)
Complete stock restoration in 2001: Paint, 430cu motor rebuild, transmission, exhaust, shocks, interior. It's been sitting outside under a cover since.
Paint is faded, small rust bumps on passenger rear 3/4 panel.
Needs tires. Dash is cracked.
New fuel tank and Hollry carburetor has been installed recently.
There is currently a vapor lock issue - probably needs a new radiator and fuel pump.
With some minor mechanical fixes and surface updates, this car is a good candidate for an awesome full custom or classic stock restoration.

this Kellison won the Larry Watson paint award at the West Coast Kustoms Cruisin Nationals
This is the art of Phil Leonard, of Syrarum Color Studio of Hollister California.
Winning the Larry Watson award is very cool, but not a surprise when looking through the art that Phil has made. Incredible stuff!

The Larry Watson Award had me look up something;
In 1955, at the age of 16, Larry Watson began his pinstriping career.
His inspiration came from watching Dean Jeffries striping, while sitting on his bicycle outside of Barris Kustoms in Lynwood.
Von Dutch had moved his operation uptown working out of "The Crazy Arab's" Competition Body Shop at 7201 West Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, so it was Dean Jeffries doing his first striping for Barris on Johnny Zupan's 1949 Mercury.
Larry asked Jeffries where he had bought his brushes. Jeffries answered "What do you want to do? Put me out of business?" At the time it was only Von Dutch and Dean Jeffries who applied what they called "Modern Striping." Larry answered that he just wanted to stripe his own car, but Jeff still wouldn't tell him.
Two years later, when he graduated high school, he opened his first car painting business

BOMONSTER has put out a book! Scratch This
I noticed this at SEMA.... but, you know, it gets overwhelming, and I'm still posting photos from SEMA, yeah, still more to come, and this was in the many things still to get worked up for a good post, and suddenly, I get an email, and BOMONSTER helped me out by sending me some inside pages for you to see!
This is BOMONSTER’s first collected works book of his scratched designs and he adds insightful commentary on most of his work shown. He is relatively new to the lowbrow kustom culture scene (I first met him at the Beatnik Blowout 2011, Ventura) and he encourages anyone who wants to create art to start now.
