if you're wondering what to do with your muscle car era original headlights, cause they are so damn dim compared to regular new car headlights, I just learned that the 7" Toyota Koito H4 Headlight is a direct replacement, and highly recommended much brighter upgrade

they once experimented with taking the horizontal part of the wing off, it didn't help.

A waterfront train depot dripping in history is about to get a facelift and new historical exhibit

Situated at Depot Beach on the shoreline of Lake Charlevoix, the depot is a treasured historic building and a driver behind the town’s transformation from a small fishing and lumber settlement to the resort destination it is today

The first train arrived in Charlevoix during June 1892 with depot being completed the following month.

a farmer in Marietta, Ohio, who had a Holt 5-Ton crawler tractor he wanted to sell. It turns out to be an interesting Maxwell subcontracted built machine, it took 4 years just to source the correct armor plating

the Holt 5-Ton was in high demand in World War I for towing artillery. The Holt Manufacturing Company, which later merged in 1925 with the C.L. Best Tractor Company to form the Caterpillar Tractor Co., couldn’t keep up with the demand.

So Holt contracted with the Maxwell Motor Company and other manufacturers to help meet supply for the “Artillery Tractor 5-ton Model 1917,” as Holt called them.

Before all the orders could be filled, however, the war ended November 11, 1918. Holt, Maxwell and the other manufacturers were left with surplus tractors that never made it “Over There,” but some remained in service through the 1920s and others were converted to civilian use on the farm.

Bowers got interested in restoring antique equipment from his father, Howard Bowers Sr., who started the family’s heavy hauling business in 1948 in Wintersville.

At 84, Bowers Jr. is retired, but the fourth generation of the family has joined Howard L. Bowers Contracting. And Bowers still goes in every day to his own special spot on the company’s property where his father used to work on old machines.

“I got what they call a ‘toy shop’ where I work on these antique tractors,” he says. “This is my ‘golf course’ over here in my own shop.”

this moron moved a barrrier, just to see what would happen. Milwaukee County had the barrier up so morons would not get their vehiclez stuck in fresh concrete on the National Avenue on-ramp along I-894 on Tuesday, May 12.

California Governor Newsom is in a spat with a major oil company over who is to blame for the state’s high gas prices, and is urging drivers not to fill up at Chevron stations over Memorial Day weekend.

“Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean,” Newsom’s office posted Thursday on X. “Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.”

Newsom’s office cited an analysis by a group within the state’s energy commission, which oversees the oil and gas industry, that found that Chevron averaged more than 60 to 80 cents per gallon above unbranded alternatives.

As of Friday, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in California stood at $6.13, the only state in the U.S. charging more than $6 a gallon and the highest in the nation by more than 30 cents, according to the American Automobile Association.

At its investor day in Auburn Hills, Stellantis showed reporters 20 of its next cars coming to the market. The automaker ate all of $26 billion worth of losses from the ill planned shift to all electric, that resulted in stock sliding to its lowest point in all of company history, around $7 a share.

Mostly, more of the same, and a ridiculous effort to establish the Chrysler nameplate, a decade after it became obsolete.

The company hopes to sell high volumes of low-cost cars — the automaker said it hopes to bring nine new vehicles to the U.S. market under the $40,000 price point.

Stellantis maintains a 51/49 majority ownership stake in Chinese EV maker Leapmotor International, and on Wednesday, it inked a similar deal with Dongfeng, another Chinese brand. Stellantis is also partnering with Jaguar Land Rover and its parent company, Tata Motors, to explore product and technology development.

While Jeep and Ram are targeting global growth, Chrysler and Dodge will now be classed as "regional brands" focusing on the North American market. The automaker also will focus on developing Fiat and Peugeot for the global market, while European badges like Citroën, Opel and Alfa Romeo will also be classed as regional brands.

Without a flagship model that establishes a foothold in the market, like the 300 did, or the Navigator did for Lincoln, or the Escalade for Cadillac, it's more useless minivans and SUVs that Honda and Toyota do better, with higher quality, and longer lifespans with better trade in value.

Students at Crestwood High School in Mantua kept a classic rural-school tradition alive on Friday, May 22, when many students participated in “Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” (thank you Marc!)

Crestwood high was named in '55 for the local telephone exchange (CRestwood-4 or 2-7-4)

The district formed in 1951 when Mantua Local and Shalersville Local merged.

New York State troopers, dressed as construction workers, issued 94 tickets during an 8-hour enforcement operation in a 55 mph work zone along the New York State Thruway in Herkimer County on Friday.

Speeding accounted for 73% of the citations, with troopers issuing 69 tickets for exceeding the posted limit. The fastest driver was clocked at 79 mph in a 55 mph work zone.

The enforcement effort, called Operation Hard Hat, involved troopers posing as workers within an active construction zone along Interstate 90. The undercover troopers identified violations and radioed uniformed officers in the area to conduct traffic stops.

abandoned factory, abandoned box cars... it's amazing that millions of dollars of assets are walked away from, because corporations can write off losses. Ashuelot, NH

The box cars were not worth moving to a scrap yard, so they were abandoned, and the bearings and brakes aren't up to code, so they aren't worth moving, even if they could, for use on any rail line. Only a museum might be interested, and that's not likely unless they are loaded with cash.

I had not learned that Hurst made Air Shocks until now

if some obsolete railroad left track in your backyard... because a factory like marble or paper went out of business... what would you do with the extra land? Me, I'd pull that shit up and smooth out my "new" lawn (or put a LOT of topsoil over it until it's "buried" and can't be seen)

why not just fix up the 120 yr ol Road King grader and make it more useful than just another piece of yard art?

A pony was rescued after becoming trapped inside a big tractor tire... no one saw it get itself stuck, it might have laid down inside for the shade, but it needed help from rescue workers to get out

Rescue workers carefully lifted the tire and freed him gradually, easing out his legs, shoulder and neck in stages to avoid injury.

It ain't pretty, so I'm not posting the photo.

meanwhile, in the WTF category of news, an 86-year-old woman from York was convicted in a fast-track court, because a single letter typo on her car insurance rendered it technically invalid.

She had mistakenly written an 'F' instead of an 'S' in her vehicle's number plate when obtaining cover from Swinton Insurance.

Despite letters from the woman and her niece explaining the error, she was convicted under the controversial Single Justice Procedure.

The magistrate imposed a three-month conditional discharge and a £26 victim surcharge, rather than a fine.

The DVLA is now reviewing the case and may seek to overturn the conviction if the registration typo is confirmed as the cause.

Kyle Busch, one of the greatest

He has won a race on every active NASCAR Cup Series track.

He was the all-time wins leader in both the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (102) and the Craftsman Truck Series (69)

He is ranked ninth all-time for Cup Series victories (63), with two championships (2015 and 2019).
Twelve days prior to his death, Busch had complained of sinus issues while racing at Watkins Glen and asked for a doctor to visit him in his hauler after the race. However, he continued to race afterward, even winning a Truck Series race in Dover, Delaware, one week ago.

He died of pneumonia leading to sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications
