There was an interesting phenomenon on Lake Erie on Dec. 29, called a seiche. The wind was blowing so strong from the west, that the water was pushed to the eastern end of the lake. The water level was down about 5 feet near Toledo, and up as much near Buffalo. There were also supposed to be 20-30 foot waves at the eastern end, which is very unusual for Lake Erie. People were walking out onto the exposed lake bed at the western end and finding things like outboard motors and a snowmobile that sunk in the lake.
I went to one of the beaches near where I work that day, and there was about 100 yards more beach than normal. The wind was brutal.
