as you can see from above and below... the trim was clipped by the tires ever so briefly that nothing was seriously damaged.
now, imagine if these trim pieces with the factory cut out for the area where a tire would need that clearance, was swapped from side to side.
And I think that the actual shift of that area, back to front, by putting these on the other side of the car, will result in the tires not clipping the trim again (once I hammer them smooth)

Good pick up! Although I'm sure the dealer didn't work for free, I understand why you'd want to fix it yourself.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a garage big enough, and had the equipment (lift) to do my own work, I would have no need to outsource any work. The shop rate around here is 200 an hour. That's about 2 days income for me, for every hour they work on my car.
DeleteI have been doing what I can on 1969-72 Mopars since 1992.
Since I don't have welding equip, no lift, and etc... I had to get a garage to replace my K frame with the new QA1 unit. I'm pretty sure there wasn't much I couldn't have done, bolt on brakes, bleed brakes, bolt on headers...
Even the garage had to outsource the exhaust to collector work, as either they don't weld pipe, or weren't supplied with extra pipe to custom fit the existing pipe on the car to where the new headers collectors are.
Nothing is ever easy. If we wanted easy, we'd simply have to by a Hell Cat to get the same feeling of immense fun and horsepower. Of course, that would have a warranty, and 12 speaker dual sub Harmon Kardon system, 10 sec quarter mile... etc. But you can't do a damn thing on a new car without a doctorate in computer coding
