you'll probably find this strange, but I've never heard of Lucille Lee, and don't find her story interesting enough to look into, BUT, I did observe something I think others, including Shirley, overlooked / didn't notice.

Just how much ALL of your opponents must worry about you to team up to beat you, to get just one of them to triumph through their combined efforts, to get you out of the championship.

You have to intimidate the hell out of them. I don't think Shirley ever had that epiphany, and she became quite bitter (I think everyone agrees) because she WAS the best that had to be beaten in order for anyone else to win.

I doubt anyone disagrees that Shirley is one of the best top fuel drivers there has been
