In 1968 Carroll Shelby opened the Sky Terrace motel and restaurant at the southern Basin of Lake Tahoe. Located near a popular ski resort it featured a heated pool, free cable TV and a bar called the Snake Pit. (I've never heard of it until now)
Shelby also owned a cabin on the shores of Lake Tahoe, he sometimes piloted a Cessna from Texas, and he also opened the Lake Tahoe Basin’s first Ford dealership.
