I have a big old vise slightly smaller, but not that much, and it rests on a similar stand, using the stump jumper from a very large brush cutter as its base. One thing for those using such things: If you do not put a set screw in the "meatball" and instead allow the handle to move from end to end, be very very careful where you put your hands. You can really hurt your fingers if they are caught between the handle end and the meatball. Wear on the holes in the meatball makes it worse, as they can become sharp. I have pieces of rubber hose at each end to prevent this very nasty pinch.

ReplyDeleteA big old vise like this is a pleasure to use.
