Democrat Mario Procaccino coined the term "limousine liberal" in his ill-fated 1969 campaign for New York City mayor. Author and journalist Tom Wolfe perhaps popularized the insult in his 1970 essay, "Radical Chic: That Party at Lenny's."
It's ironic, or hypocrisy, to insist that internal combustion engines are phased out by democrat politicians, and that after 2030, or 2035, only electric vehicles will be available for purchase, in California, where the quite old and limited electrical supply infrastructure are not capable of the needs of the consumers during a hot day when air conditioners will be used, or during droughts like this past summer which depleted the water levels behind hydroelectric dams, to the point they weren't able to generate electricity
If politicians were concerned with pollution, carbon foot print, green house gasses, and the other buzzword phrases used to imply negative on climate change, they would use an website or program for meetings, instead of the estimated 2 million pounds of carbon dioxide that this climate conference produced
Even better... to get to that meeting, politicians flew from around the word in some 400 jets. That was so big number that airfield was not capable to holding them so they need to make extra flight to other airfields to find a place to stay for time of conference. There is a huger irony in that.
ReplyDeletesuch a waste
ReplyDeleteyou fine hotrodders and unlimited data plan smart phone users still don't get. The rules are for thee and not for me. There really is a ruling class and there really is a Swamp.
ReplyDeleteYour remarks are on spot. At the present time, electric vehicles have little that can be recycled from the materials with which they are built. Furthermore, petroleum is a renewable energy source as learned by Russian scientists in 1951. Yet, this information is not disseminated. How many of us would prefer to wait for thirty-five minutes to two hours to recharge our cars as opposed to a five-minute fill at the gasoline station? It is bewildering.
ReplyDeleteI understand that this seems excessive (and I agree). But it is not the president who decides how many vehicles a motorcade should have. It is up to the secret service to make that decision and environmental considerations are not factored.
ReplyDeleteI live in NJ and for 4 years routinely saw 3 Marine One choppers fly over my house every time Trump decided to go to his Bedminster property. I doubt Trump himself made the decision to fly 3 choppers instead of just one.
re read my title please. I clearly stated it was the presidents staff
Deleteand then I used the words "It's ironic, or hypocrisy".
DeleteThanks for looking, however, you clearly aren't reading. I don't mind either way, but don't waste my time commenting when you don't read what I write
God bless you and your common sense Jesse.
ReplyDeletethank you
DeleteWhen is President Biden going to call for an electric version of the Beast?
ReplyDeletePerhaps you folks could have done a little bit of investigating before making these inane comments. First of all, all of Italy was under a blanket CoVid order in which no vehicle on the road was allowed to have more than 3 co-habitating people per car. That means that the only car that could have more than 3 was the Beast, as it had Biden, his wife, the driver & one Secret Service agent. The rest of the Secret Service detail alone required more than a dozen cars. Add that there were at least a dozen other members of the administration with him... plus the 13 members of the protective press pool... and you begin to see why Italy REQUIRED him to have such a large entourage. These people are required to travel with the POTUS and/or FLOTUS as per US requirements. A typical motorcade... whether in the US or abroad... makes up 20 to 25 vehicles. Add in Italy's requirements and it almost makes you wonder why it was only 85 vehicles long. To make it clear, the administration had almost no say in how many cars were included in the motorcade. It was all due to the Italian government's rules.
ReplyDeleteTo Matias... it is a government requirement for all three Marine choppers to be in the air when Marine One is in flight. In fact, there are occasionally up to five choppers in the air at once. One is designated Marine One and the others are all decoys. They all shuffle while flying in formation so that no one on the ground can tell which one is the actual Marine One. Like the motorcade point I made above, it is a requirement from the DOD that they fly this way.
To Marc B... Obama began looking into the Beast becoming an EV, but his successor scrapped the idea as being, as he put it, something only an idiot would do. Biden has restarted the research into do so, but it most likely won't be for some time before such a thing would happen because the Beast is such a monstrous machine - it weighs as much as 20,000 pounds - so it would require a massive amount of battery power & motors at every corner to accomplish that which it does in its current configuration.
perhaps you could have read the title of this post a bit slower, and found the two key words, "in person" and understood that the Pres doesn't need to meet anyone IN PERSON with that 85 car motorcade, now that the phone, and skype, and zoom, have been invented.
DeleteAlso, to meet someone, doesn't require that all your cronies, wife, and press buddies who will give you a nice article come along. That you think they are REQUIRED to be with the Pres is quaint.
DeleteWow. What an utterly condescending fuck you really are. No wonder so few people follow what otherwise is a decent blog.
ReplyDeleteBefore you make your next obnoxious comment, I had an uncle who flew Marine One for more than 20 years... I spent a decade in the Air Force where I tried to get a position on Air Force One as a mechanic... and I had to learn every minute aspect of the White House actions before I could even be considered for that position, so I am very well informed on this subject. You? You're talking out of your ass with zero knowledge on the subject. In actuality, it is in the very laws that control all White House travel that the POTUS travels with such an entourage. Do you really think that, when a world leader is in the vicinity of a country, that it is acceptable to "meet" via technology? You might be a bit of a hermit yourself, but that's not how the real world works at such high levels. Beyond that, the meetings with the mayor of Rome and the Pope were set more than a year ago. Could they have canceled the meetings? Sure. But why would they do that when there was a true need to meet in person due to the escalating threat to not only Ukraine and the European Union, but the entire fucking world as well???
The laws that mandate who travels with the POTUS have been in place for decades. In fact, the entourage size increased dramatically post-9/11 when Bush added several other teams based on where in the world the POTUS travels.
Next time you want to make yourself look like an ignorant fuck, just post something. It is quite clear from your posts that you are just that... an ignorant fuck.
oh, now that I have the benefit of your eloquence, I'm convinced how wrong I am, and that everything I said was wrong.
DeleteSure.
Like I said, the wife of the pres ain't required to go along, and neither are the press. No law requires that the newspaper people get driven about because the pres is heading out. They don't go with him to Camp David, golfing, etc.
And he wasn't required to meet with the pope, he could have done that with a zoom meeting.
Anyway, as much fun as it is to remind you that you didn't read the title carefully, and that these meeting CAN be done on the phone, or video, HUH! Like meetings the pres has with world leaders every day, I've got better things to do.
And you are arguing with a car guy, you fucking idiot.
The name of this blog isn't "guy who knows everything accurately" but then, you don't read very good, do you Jack Ryan? It says "Just A Car Guy" you air force weenie
