how to comment without getting a Google account, I just learned about

 use the name/url option. You can enter whatever name you want and then anything followed by “.com” for a url.

Type your comment. Then click the arrow to the right of "Google Account" in the "Comment as:" bar. Select "Name/URL" Type your name or favorite handle. Never mind typing any website or email address. It's not required.
