Why can't they spell the name of their own company, or is it some ripoff firm like Hardly Davidson or Austin Martin?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering that myself, as it's not the April edition of this magazine, so it's not the April Fools joke that was a possibility
DeleteMarc figured it out. It's a guy with the name Curtis Wright, who capitalized on the similarity of name without being able to be sued for using it in the same way. He worked for the Airstream company, that's why the "Clipper" looks like an Airstream
DeleteOh, and as far as I know, the "Curtis Wright" Skypal was pure vaporware. Never flew, never existed.
ReplyDeleteThis does create a mystery then. Was this a legit advertisement for Curtiss Wright, or something else?
DeleteThis is Curtis Wright Industries, which was started by a man named Curtis Wright. He may have been taking advantage of the fact that his name was similar to Curtiss-Wright, the company started by Glenn Curtiss and the Wright Brothers.
ReplyDeleteCurtis Wright worked with the man who started Airstream, so the CW Clipper trailers look like Airstreams.

WOW! Well that explains why it made no sense, and wasn't spelled correctly! Thank you! You do know, you are quite amazing... just letting you know it's a pleasure to know you and get your input
DeleteThanks, but this was just a little Google-fu. I'm glad to be able to add some information once in a while.
DeleteHere's a photo of a Sky-Pal, so they built at least one. (link may or may not work, because Facebook.
