Sumpter Valley Railway purchased this charming piece of equipment on AFE #298 June 25, 1929. The motive power end #14 on the roster at the time is a 2900 lb unit built on a section motor car chasis produced by Northwestern Motor Co. as their "Casey Jones #551 model.
It had a 4 cyl. Ford engine of 22 hp. which is of course a model T engine. The wood body was built by the SVRy shop. It was 9' long, 6' wide and had a hauling capacity of 3000 lbs. It was retired 10-1-31 and transferred to MOW. They only used it for part of a year when it was retired again 6-3-32.
The trailer roster #15, weight was 1020 lbs. and built on a Northwestern "Casey Jones model 500" push car. It was 10'3"x 5'7 1/2", held 441 cu. ft. and a capacity of 4000 lbs.
