has to be soil composition, and water retention qualities... right? very dry ground, maybe far above the ground water level, and not downhill from any water running in it's direction after the rains, or snow melt... lots of little items like those could be the reason it's not as rusted out as we'd expect. Maybe it had a good paint sealant before it became part of the dirt. We've all seen that very few factory painted VWs didn't rust the bottoms right off

ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking too. Its in better shape than a lot of the ultra rare Sambas, etc. that we've seen rescued from their graves in the Alps.
