Imagine if the high schools had a class where they taught kids (who wanted to learn how) to make themselves a master machinists tool chest in wood shop, or over in the metal shop class, to make a rolling tool chest
It's funny you mention that about the shop class. My daughter made a sheet metal parts tray in some life skill class; about the size of two decks of cards. Hemmed over top and riveted corners. Still has the dykem on it. Going on fifteen years that's been on her dresser.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrific! We made some sheet metal scoops for use in buckets and barrels, and a cold chisel. It was 9th grade, and we weren't closely supervised, nor motivated to be challenged by bigger projects. I suppose to make a tool box or machinists tool chest students would need to be much more advanced in training and skills than i was in 9th grade
